Alex Wei (born 1980) is a highly acclaimed Bay Area watercolor artist known for redefining the possibilities of watermedia in contemporary fine art. Born in Hangzhou, China and raised in California, Wei combines a multicultural heritage with a lifelong passion for art. From an early age, he was utterly devoted to painting – he often notes that he “can’t remember a time… it wasn’t [his] primary focus.” This early dedication, paired with an inquisitive and humble personality, shaped him into a visionary artist who bridges Eastern and Western artistic traditions.
